Looking for something to do on a spring evening … The Gering Park, Cemetery and Tree Board invite you to join them for a Walk in the Park!

GERING - Get ready for an educational and hands-on experience, happening on Thursday, May 14th at 5:30 p.m. at the Northfield Park / Charlie Fenster Arboretum.  We will meet at the east end of Northfield Park along Pacific Boulevard and Holly Drive, next to the Northfield Park Sign.

This event promises an evening full of learning with demonstrations on proper tree planting techniques, a hands-on pruning demonstration and a walking tour showcasing some of our most interesting tree species within the park. This event is open to the public and is perfect for all ages.

Schedule of Events:

  • 5:30 p.m. – Park History Talk

  • 6:00 p.m. – Vera Dulaney Memorial Tree Planting Demonstration

  • 6:30 p.m. – Pruning Demonstration

  • 7:00 p.m. – Park Discovery and Walking Tour

Tree Board Member, Philip Schmitt, shares enthusiastically, “Our Board can’t wait to show off the tree plantings at the Charlie Fenster Arboretum—home to an incredible variety of unique species.  Our Board created this event to help people explore what’s growing right here in our community.  We’ll be sharing tips on what trees thrive in Gering, how to care for them, and even how to spot common evergreen diseases - so everyone can grow trees successfully.”
