Watch My Garden of a Thousand Bees in the Library Community Room. See bees like you’ve never seen them before! Gering Public Library will be showing the PBS Nature documentary, My Garden of a Thousand Bees. Popcorn, water and honey sticks will be provided. Feel free to bring other snacks for your family. The movie is an hour long.

The Incredible Journey with the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies

Where will the water you drink today be tomorrow? Join us for an "Incredible Journey" through the water cycle. With a roll of the die, you will follow the paths of water droplets as they move within the water cycle. On your journey, pick up colorful beads as you travel from a river, to the ocean, to the clouds, and so on. Then take home your water cycle journey as a keychain or bracelet! “The Incredible Journey” activity is a great way for kids to connect their homes in the Nebraska Panhandle to the vast oceans hundreds of miles away."

Explore The Wonderful World of Waves with the Edgerton Explorit Center

Sound moves as vibrations and waves no matter where we are, on land or under water. Explore different types of sounds and how they reach our ears. Watch dramatic demonstrations of how you can not only hear, but actually see sound waves. After the presentation you can learn about waves with three hands-on labs.

Join Amanda from the Wildcat Hills Nature Center. Let’s learn about our underwater friends, the fish! We will learn about different types of fish, fish anatomy, and will even conduct a little art project!

The whole family is invited for two hours of free swimming! Don't go home- the party continues- stay for a boxed lunch then join us at the Pollinator Fun Day.
Pollinator Fun Day
June 25 1:00-3:00 p.m. at The Community Ever Green House
Pollinators are the Bee’s Knees! Walk from the pool to the Ever Green House, 1210 D Street in Gering. This family-friendly event will keep everyone “a-buzz” with activities including a beekeeper with bees, storytime, a balloon artist, crafts for adults and children as well as a gi-normous bear selfie station. Make an origami flower pot and plant a sunflower to take home then take a spin on UNL Extension’s blender bike to make a healthy snack. The Ever Green House will also have some new bee-utiful sculptures to enjoy.
Learn about how wild bees and other pollinators play a crucial role in nature. They pollinate fruits, veggies, grains, and flowers. All of these are essential to agriculture and wild ecosystems. Pollinator feeding and nesting habitat is declining. They're also threatened by pesticides.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held, Sunday, June 26 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Theatre West Presents: The Library in the Lighthouse
