PRE-SCHOOL STORY TIME
Pre-school story time is a half hour program for children ages 3-6 consisting of stories, finger plays,
songs, and films following a theme. Parents may stay if they wish. Materials
are chosen not only for a theme but also for their quality and appropriateness
to children of this age. Favors are usually given to each child to help them
remember the stories and also help parents who may want to follow-up with
activities at home. Following or preceding story time, parents
are encouraged to spend time with their children checking out books and
using library materials.

May) for special programs, while learning about the library and
checking out books.
SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The Summer Reading Program is designed to help young people retain reading
skills through the summer.
This year's theme was "Join the Winners Circle - READ!" The program ran
from May 28th to July 20th. Children ages 3 - 4th grade (next school year) participated
in the Child Program and 5th grade through High School participated in the Young
Adult Program.
A total of 638 children and young adults read over 3,000 hours this summer. The final event this year was the swimming party held July 20th at the Gering Pool.
PARENT/CHILD READING GROUP
Our Parent/Child Reading Group meets once a month (during the school year) for a book discussion. The evening is
filled with thought provoking questions, group discussion, and a decision on the next book. Some
of the books discussed have been How to Eat Fried Green Worms, Stuart Little,
Night of the Twisters, and Hatchet.
